Introduction
I’m planning on lumping every team into this post as there is only one design per uniform, the post will be updated as I make the designs.
It’s great to see the reduced format back and a tournament like this is a chance to go wild with team designs because:
- It doesn’t really compromise the first grade season identity
- It gives a boost to merchandise sales
- Nines/sevens is a non traditional atmosphere
I get the occasional comment that a lot of my work is conservative so this is the perfect outlet to make some ridiculous stuff. First, a few guidelines:
- Each team has ONE DESIGN ONLY; one jersey, one shorts and one type of socks
- As a result of 1., each team must be reasonably distinct, particularly from other teams in their group. I’m not talking about the extent of rules in the proper NRL season but there should at least be a point of contrast or colour difference between opposing teams
- Player numbers are not limited to 1-25, a player may choose any number between 1 and 100
- Designs are not to be templated (looking at ISC here)
I’m also using pre-existing team logos and none of my own redesigns or renamings.
Yellow Group
Canberra Raiders
- Obnoxious bright lime all over
- Polygons all over jersey and shorts

Manly-Warringah Sea-Eagles
- Monochrome maroon
- Feather design on jersey and shorts

New Zealand Warriors
- Charcoal and grey design
- Koru-styled vertical stripes on jersey and shorts

North Queensland Cowboys
- Focus on blue and silver
- Denim texture

Green Group
Brisbane Broncos
- Monochrome yellow with maroon details
- Modernised diamonds jersey

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
- Bold version of the traditional design
- Based on a 2014 training jersey

Parramatta Eels
- Hi-vis cyan with traditional colours as accent
- Abstract striping on jersey body

Sydney Roosters
- Inverted red and navy
- V aligned to geometric pattern

Blue Group
Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks
- Black heavily featured to avoid clash with Titans
- Weathered wood effect, similar to a beach shack

Gold Coast Titans
- Azure blue, navy and old gold
- Greek meander-style striping

Newcastle Knights
- Predominantly silver
- Medieval theme: crenulated striping, silver armour with scratches on shoulders

Wests Tigers
- Bolder orange
- Sublimated Tiger stripes

Red Group
Melbourne Storm
- Predominantly purple design
- Lightning bolt motif

Penrith Panthers
- “Cat Scratch Fever”
- The exception to my official logos rule. I just can’t find a decent res Panthers logo at the moment.

South Sydney Rabbitohs
- Darker colours
- “Blood stripes” fitting in with the rabbitoh legend (credit to MDW for the idea)

St. George-Illawarra Dragons
- I like the scales idea from the charity shield design and so I took it further. Scales are smaller. Click on the image for detail
- St. George’s Cross on jersey

I know each design takes time, but any idea when you will post the next group of jeresys
I am stumped at how clever that Cronulla jersey is
WOW, that Roosters 9’s jersey is just simply awesome!!!
Nice jersey 🙂
I’m tempted to ask, have you considered doing hypothetical NRL Auckland 9’s jerseys for AFL teams? For a design exercise I mean.
I’m still studying part time with work so I have to pick and choose 1-2 projects over breaks to complete. I’m back into it next week so I just don’t have the time to start anything. Bigfooty has a large forum for AFL cross-overs, I’d give them a try.
Hey mate I know it’s been a while since the 9’s but just wondering do you sell these jerseys ? Cheers
I don’t sell anything on this site. There would be a boatload of licencing issues for most of it.
Cheers anyway bud
Can’t you allow these designs to be made independently and sell them??
Hey Gaz, I have to sat that Rabbitohs jersey is the greatest design I’ve ever seen in a jersey! It reminds me of the old Irish gang ‘The Dead Rabbits’ from New York’s 1800’s (as seen in the movie Gangs of New York). I don’t suppose you’ve floated the concept to the club by any chance? They should really see this!
I didn’t even make that connection, good pick up.
I’ve put designs to clubs before and have had no luck. I’ve entered designs into contests and never won one. Considering the sheer number of jerseys made for NRL clubs, it seems ridiculous to me at least. Frankly, its not worth my time for the most part to be chasing things like this up constantly for no benefit. I’m working on a branding proposal on/off to submit to a club in the future but its not high on the list of priorities.
The website is now focused on putting whatever I feel up, hence some of the obscure nations of late, whenever I get the time. It also has a secondary benefit of marketing for my freelance work.
If anyone feels passionate about the cause either way, they are more than welcome to take up the cause. I think they may find that the clubs in general are unresponsive to these kinds of things.
