Personally, I’d think the Bulldogs would be insane to not adopt the Primary for 2010. Its been thirteen years since they ‘modernised’ the V and many have called for a return to a more traditional styling. Note: The logo I designed for the Dogs was actually made in 2008 before the new official logo leaked, same goes for the Dragons logo which has drawn comparisons.

Very simple. Simple, but nice. Being a huge CB Bulldogs fan I really anticipated this design. Not that I’m disappointed, I’m certainly not, but I prefer the new logo chosen.
I really like the simplicity of the designs, but I’d love to see you get crazy with a CB Bulldogs design. Something completely different to what people expect from a Bulldogs kit.
Top job over all, I like what you’ve done with the sponsor too. Keep up the great work Gaz.

Oh, I also should point out (if you didn’t know already) that we are actually now called the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs, not just Canterbury.
serously how do you do this?
like what program do you use?
I use a combination of photoshop for the uniforms and illustrator for logos.
Have you seen the new logo Gary?
@ Matt, they were never actually called the Canterbury Bulldogs, they dropped the canterbury and the bankstown a while ago and just had ‘Bulldogs’, kinda like the Warriors.
I have seen the new logo and although its a step in the right direction I didn’t think they executed properly. Arguably, their most well known logo is the Bulldog in the circle (which is what I based mine on). Not sure why they would adopt the shield like they have as there isn’t a lot of history there (CB logo is a different type of shield so I’m disregarding it).
I went with just Canterbury as there are several teams with the hyphenated name, just wanted to simplify it really.
Aiden, sorry for the confusing message, I didn’t mean the Bulldogs were called Canterbury I just mean that Gaz called us Canterbury Bulldogs and I had assumed he thought that next year it would only be Canterbury Bulldogs instead of Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs.
I’ve been a Bulldogs supporter for 14 years and while I agree that the Bulldogs in the circle is probably our best logo ever, the shield does have significance as it was our first logo, regardless of the design of the shield it was still a shield.
I like the new logo and I also like your take on it Gaz, but not so much as the 2010 logo or the old Bulldogs logo. It has grown on me and I do like it, but it feels like it’s missing something to me, I’m not sure.
Thank god you didn’t include any grey in the designs, though. That was horrible when we did that. Ew.
Keep up the good work.
Fair enough comment about the shield but the Bulldogs moniker was adopted around the same time they ceased to use the CB shield. The circle logo has far greater ties to the Bulldogs brand which is why I used it, I also included the CB logo at the bottom as a nod to the heritage of the club in the pre Bulldogs era.
I not a huge fan of the new logo for a few reasons; the shield shape holds no history and is fairly similar to the Dragons, there is an overuse of black and silver (not club colours), the Bulldog lacks the aggression of past logos (I know this is for a family friendly image but I believe there are other ways to go about this without compromising the logo), the use of just the word BULLDOGS really bugs me especially when the club is trying to identify themselves as Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, and finally the V in the background looks awkward. I know that I used a similar design for the Dragons (designed before the Bulldogs leak, mind you) but their V is simpler, less top heavy and comes to a point at a far more balanced and visible area.
I respect your opinions and the points you’ve made.
I think the reason for having just “BULLDOGS” is because that’s been a part of us forever. We are the Bulldogs. It simplifies the logo so it’s not too complicated and it doesn’t have small hard to read text like our old logo.
I’d still love to see you get crazy with a design for the ‘Dogs and come up with something radically different.
Apart of us forever.. After we changed from the Berries of course :p :p
very nice designs, i rather the dogs 2010 logo to your logo but awesome jersey design
Love the Home and away designs. And loving the logo you came up with 😀
But the where did yo pull that Jaycar logo from? It’s hideous.
And what’s the go with the number on the shorts? This isn’t soccer.
Overall, besides those 2 points I love em.
The logo is something I pulled from a Jaycar catalogue. The Primary and Secondary designs were inspired by their 1980’s designs so I decided to use this logo as it suited the time period (like how the Raiders have a Woodgers style primary sponsor). The numbers on the shorts are moreso a means to fill up an empty space. I didn’t want to put a sponsor there so I went with the number instead.
G’day Doggies Men!
My name is Zank and I am very impressed with the keenness on display.
I submitted a jersey design to the marketing/merchandising fella at the football club back in 2003 (the year before the 70-year anniversary) with a 1935 butcher’s stripes theme. His response was that they were planning to use that design the next year (2004), but thanks for the design submission anyway.
I have been praying for the last 13 or 14 years for them to go back to the traditional V design.
Love your work GAZF. With all due respect to your lovely designs – I think a return to a traditional collar is the only option. Preferably a ‘plaquet’ collar – which was ironically used by Nike for their sublimated Dogs jerseys. The plaquet is the original-style collar that was used until the 70s.
Cheers,
Zank
GAZ, how do u get the jeresy outlines into photoshop before u start on making the desgins?
I make my templates in photoshop using paths and vector masks. There are several online tutorials available to get you started.
